This pattern gets its punny name from two sources of inspiration: my canine quilting companion whose Korean name, Goguma, translates to Sweet Potato, and the intellectual freedom we experience when we think outside the box, try new things, and challenge our perceived limitations. They embodied my experience in writing my first quilt pattern full of open and closed boxes.
This pattern guides you through strip piecing and log cabin piecing with the intention of providing a fun, fast, and varied experience.
Quilters can choose to make this with 2 fabrics (pictured below), or assign a fabric for each of the four shapes seen in the design: Cross, V, Small Square, and Big Box.
With three sizes available, one can make six entirely different quilts from this pattern.
